The Story of the Widow’s Offering

When you think about worship, what comes to mind? Is it singing songs of praise? Making donations? Praying?

All of these things are expressions of worship, and they’re found throughout the Bible. In this story, we see an example of worship in the form of a generous donation.

The story takes place in a time when famine was rampant throughout the land. People were struggling to survive, and yet one woman stepped up to help. She was a widow, and she had nothing left to give. But she was willing to sacrifice even that little bit in order to honor God.

Her offering is recorded in Mark 12:41-44: “And Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.”

This widow’s act of worship is so inspiring! She didn’t have much to give, but she still gave everything she had. And her act of sacrifice spoke volumes about her faith and her love for God.

The Story of Miriam and the Women Who Led in Worship

In the Bible story of Miriam and the Women Who Led in Worship, we see an example of women leading the way in worship. This is a model for us as believers to follow, showing that anyone can lead in worship, regardless of their gender.

When we look at this story, we can see that the women were instrumental in leading the people in worship. They were the ones who started singing and dancing, and their worship was a powerful testimony to God. We can learn from their example and be inspired to lead in worship ourselves.

David Dancing Before the Lord

The Bible tells the story of David, a man who was deeply devoted to God. One day, David saw the Lord arrive in all His glory. David couldn’t help but break out into dance! He worshiped the Lord with all his heart and soul.

When we worship God with all our hearts, we’re telling Him that we love Him and appreciate everything He’s done for us. It’s a way of showing Him that we’re grateful for His love and grace. When we do this, we open ourselves up to receive even more from Him.

Paul and Silas In Jail

So, this one’s a bit of a downer, but it’s also a great example of worship. Paul and Silas were arrested and thrown into jail for preaching the gospel. But rather than sit in despair, they decided to worship God. They began singing hymns and praise songs which not only soothed them but also brought joy to the other prisoners.

This act of boldness and faith in the face of suffering not only demonstrated their own devotion to God but also inspired those around them, including the jailer who decided to join them in worship and was even baptized as a result! We can learn from Paul and Silas that no matter how difficult our situation may be, we can always take refuge in God by worshiping Him.

The Woman’s Anointing of Jesus’ Feet

Another great story about worship is found in the book of Luke. It centers around a woman who anointed Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume from a jar she had brought.

This act of worship was so impactful that it angered some of the Pharisees, who felt that this expensive oil could have been sold and used to help the poor. But Jesus disagreed, saying that when one uses what they have to worship Him, it is far more valuable than any money.

In this story, we can learn how to truly worship—with abandon and humility, giving generously and sacrificially to honor Jesus. No matter what resources you may have access to, use them as an offering of thanksgiving and praise in humble obedience to God. Even if all you have is your time and energy, God will accept your offering with pleasure.

Conclusion

No matter what your religious beliefs are, the Bible is one of the most influential pieces of literature in human history. And as you can see, the Bible is packed with stories about worship.

So what does worship mean to you? What does it look like in your life?
