Repentance Verses To Help You Change Your Direction

What Is Repentance? How Do We Achieve It? Why Is Important To Humanity?

Repentance: a simple word but so very hard to live up to. Repentance for a Christian means to give up all that they have known; “turn around” completely and run to Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins; the word “repent” means to turn around and go the other way, in other words, turn away from Satan and make God your redeemer, accept His love and righteousness; let God make you a new person; one full of life and love and light; one of giving and helping others.

The time is now, turn and run to God as fast as you can. Allow Him to show you the way to heaven and all it has within its wonderful gates. In repentance, you will find that by leaving your sins behind and never looking back at them, your life will become the golden circle of peace, joy, and love that God meant it to be in the beginning. Turn around and tell Satan to “get behind you, for you are a new person and fully belong to God.”

If you are going to be a child of God then you must repent of your sins; cleanse your temple by baptism, both with water and fire, burying the past and allowing Jesus to take over; accept all His teachings; take into yourself His righteousness, giving nature, kindness, and above all His mighty and powerful love.

Once you’ve repented you may at times, fall back into the grasp of the evil one; you do not have to listen to the evil babblings of that creature; simply tell him “get out;” or “allow God’s light to drive out all darkness that may be around you;” since the Holy Spirit lives within you, God has given Him the authority to take your hand and together cast Satan back to hell.

The freedom, joy, peace, and love a person receives when they repent from sin and their “sin-nature” is unexplainable; your entire body, inside and out just feels joyful and full of peace and love. Giving up the dark, negative evil side of human existence is a marvelous feeling, as though you could float on air. Well, since all things are possible with God, who’s to say you aren’t floating, or at least everything inside you.

Give yourself to God today; find the joy and peace He offers you merely because He loves you; has loved you from the very beginning and will always love you. God never lies and when He says He will love you always: He means just that; repent your sins, give them up to the past and allow all His love, joy, peace, and devotion to belong to you. Once you repent your sins you become God’s adopted son or daughter.

When you repent, salvation can be yours; the only thing God asks is for you to love Him as much as He loves you. God designed you in His image, to be like unto Him; His blood flows in your veins; He breathed His breath of life into your lungs giving you the ability to become a living, breathing human being; God holds man as His most precious creation.

Repentance verses to help you change your direction

6 Powerful Repentance Verses

Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

Matthew 3:8

NOTE: Once you repent your entire life will change, it’s like a brand new day has opened its shining light on you and the joy you will feel is difficult to describe let alone understand. God gives you all good things once you have chosen to follow Him; once you decide that God is the only right direction, you will feel the mighty power of God’s love and blessings surrounding you. Know that He will always be with you; loving you; giving you blessings you never imagined before; pray to Him continually, and watch how His love, power, and promises fill your life.

He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This fulfilled what God said through the prophet Isaiah: “In the land of Zebulun and of Naphtali, beside the sea, beyond the Jordan River, in Galilee where so many Gentiles live, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

Matthew 4:14-17

NOTE: The gathering here was the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. In these verses, Jesus fulfilled prophesy spoken by God to the prophet Isaiah. Afterward, Jesus began gathering His disciples first Andrew (Simon Peter’s brother), Simon (also known as Peter), James, and John (sons of Zebedee).  Jesus gathered his disciples, in addition to those mentioned above: Thomas, Matthew, Judas Iscariot, Bartholomew, Judas Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Philip. Thousands of people repented their sins, turned to God and were baptized during this time, and became true believers and followers of Jesus.

Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”

Luke 5:31-32

NOTE:  In this scripture, Jesus made it known to the Pharisees that He was on this earth to help sinners come back to God; to give them a chance to repent their sins and move toward the completely fulfilled life of walking with God. Jesus responded to the Pharisees’ questions by telling them that He was there for the “sick” (sinners), not those who think they are righteous.

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them”

Luke 17:3-4

NOTE: In order to walk with God we must have a forgiving heart. God instilled in us a heart that could look at a situation and say, “I don’t think they meant to be crass.” But rather, to allow others to receive forgiveness from situations and thoughts that are not of God. If you feel in your heart that you need forgiveness then lay down your burdens at the feet of Jesus and ask to repent from your old ways.

He told them, “This is what is written: the Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

Luke 24:46-48

NOTE: Jesus came into this world from heaven to suffer the sins of all humanity in order to set us free from the bondage of the evil one. He took on every sin of every human, past, present, and future; just think about that, He suffered every kind of pain and sorrow specifically to allow us freedom from sin which led only to death. He, who knew no sin whatsoever.

Then I remembered what the Lord had said: John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way? When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

Acts 11:16-18

NOTE: God granted every person the right to repent their sins and turn to Him for righteousness. Repentance is one of the first steps to gaining salvation and the promise of eternal life. Sometimes it is difficult to realize just how important “repentance” is in your life. You may not realize it, but there are times that you go through repentance dozens of times each day. But the joy in that statement is that God is always there to grant you repentance when you need it.

Conclusion – Repentance To God

Look around and ask yourself, what it would be like if there was no such thing as “repentance;” if God never granted you relief from your sins.

It is through repentance we have a very special closeness with God; He is willing to forgive you anything, with the exception of blaspheming the Holy Spirit, the only unforgivable sin.

Stay in constant communication with God by saying prayers continually throughout the day; simple statements like: “Father I love you!” or “Lord, Guide me through this day” or even “Father, bless all those strangers around me and show them repentance.” It’s really not that hard to stay in prayer or communication with God at all times as he is listening just for you.
