Important Bible Verses

Do you have a favorite scripture you read over and over? Some followers upon continually reading the Bible come to a place that seems to be aimed directly at them. If that’s how a scripture manifests itself to you there is probably something in that scripture that you should learn. You can easily learn what that lesson is by praying to God to give you an understanding; to open the eyes of your heart so you can see His purpose for the words written there, His words.

Here we’re going to check out some of what many people feel are important scriptures and what makes them so important. We must first remember that all scriptures are important, just that some are more meaningful to us in this age. For example, what would this world be without the book of Genesis; the creation of this universe, this planet, this human race?

God gave us the Bible as a directive on how to live a wholly Christian life; how to walk with Jesus and use the Holy Spirit that is (God’s gift to us) within each and every one of His followers. The Holy Spirit we carry with us is a teacher, a guide, and a helper throughout your lifetime as a follower. Pray about how to get in “touch” with God’s Holy Spirit and begin a closer walk with Him.

Important Bible Verses

Colossians 1:15-20 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

NOTE:  In this scripture, God is telling how Jesus was first brought into existence. Noting that Jesus was made in God’s image which pleased God that all of Himself was within Jesus. Jesus was a complete image of God. God was very pleased when Jesus agreed to leave heaven and suffer the shame that would be put upon him. We should always praise God for sending Jesus, and for Jesus agreeing to come to the earth and with his blood forgive the sins of all humanity both past, present, and future.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

NOTE: You may be well educated and filled with knowledge, however, you have no idea what “real knowledge” is; our Lord has more information about you and everything around you than you can even imagine. When He said He knows the number of hairs on your head, He actually does know. Our Lord knows everything about all people, He hears your thoughts, feels your pain, and sends you His love, peace, and joy continually.

Psalms 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God, I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

NOTE: If you’re feeling fear your need to ask Jesus to rid you of that negative feeling. Fear is one of Satan’s best weapons against you. Jesus always looks after his followers but sometimes you have to stand up with Him and demand Satan out of your house, or presence. You can ask the Holy Spirit that dwells within you to assist you in ridding you of Satan’s presence, you with the Holy Spirit within you have the authority to send Satan right back to Hell.

I Corinthians 15:56-58 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to  God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

NOTE:  In this scripture, God is telling you that because Jesus gave his life for us we need to stand firm against the actions of Satan. We shouldn’t allow fear of the darkness to divert us from our responsibilities as true followers of Jesus.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves, treasures on earth where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

NOTE: You should stop and take a good look at what you’re doing when you go to work and stay until midnight. Are you working like that to support your family, or is it some semblance of greed? Are you working to gather possessions here on earth? Could you support your family without putting your entire self into the job? What’s going to happen to the wealth and possessions you are collecting when you die? You will leave everything to someone else who may not take the possessions as deeply as you did. Remember the saying, “you can’t take it with you.”

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

NOTE: What an extremely special gift God’s armor is. He gave us this suit of armor to protect us from the darkness of the enemy. However, you have to put that armor on every day to gain that protection. God has ways to fend off Satan’s attacks and this is one of the better of them for humans; with this armor, you will be in His loving arms of safety.
