How to make your PTZ camera setup wireless

Wireless pan, tilt, and zoom control can be achieved with an IOS app that you can download for your PTZ camera. This wireless control can be achieved by using a wireless router. You can use various apps, and you need to connect everything via networking.

How do I get started?

Start by connecting your PTZOptics camera to the Ethernet. You can daisy-chain multiple cameras to connect them. A Cisco switch is required. You can use the Linksys E1550 as an option, but any other switch will work. The Cisco switch can be connected to both the camera and laptop.

After everything is connected, you can log in to your computer from the switch. Check the IP address to ensure it is within the same range as your computer’s. If the switch’s IP address is 192.168.111.1, the range would be 111. Ensure your computer’s IP address is within the same range as your switch’s. This is crucial because the camera and computer must be within the same range.

For your cameras, create a unique IP address.

You can search for PTZ cameras in Cisco’s program by clicking on the search button. Click on Config to select the camera’s IP address and then choose the last numbers. If the IP address is 192.168.111.88, you will want to change it by choosing 88. You can set the default IP if you make it 87. Click the Set button and then click OK.

This is necessary because your camera will need a static IP address. Each camera in your network will require a unique static IP. This will allow you to connect to each camera individually.

This can be done by entering the IP address, and the sign-in box will open. The login and password are “admin”. This can be done on any computer in your Local area network, provided it is within the same IP range.

Understanding Networks

First, you need to create a DHCP IP Video Network. The modem connects a router or computer to an Internet Service Provider. It connects all your wired and wireless devices to one another and to the router, where it receives Internet Service.

In this case, the Cisco LinksysE1550 switch is the device that connects multiple wired network devices to your home network. If you have more than one device, your router should have Ethernet ports. However, you will need an additional switch.

Your manual for the switch will be useful to ensure you have exact instructions. Different passwords and login information may exist. This information is available in your user manual.

DHCP Switch

A switch with a built-in switch is located on the back of your switch. The switch will connect to the router via a spot on the back. It will also have Ethernet ports. These Ethernet ports will be used to connect devices. You will also find a power port. This is where your switch is connected to a power source. A power indicator will also light up when the switch is connected.

The switch will allow you to plug in your computer, and the Ethernet port will allow you to plug in the cameras. You can plug your computer into the router if you are using Power over Ethernet to power all your cameras.

Step-by-Step Wireless Installation

Here’s how to connect your wireless camera.

  1. Cameras can be connected to the Switch
  2. Connect your laptop and the Switch
  3. Check that your laptop and cameras are in the same IP range
  4. If they aren’t in the same range, log into your DHCP router/switch and verify the IP range
  5. The correct range of IP addresses should be set for the camera
  6. Connect your smartphone to the Wi-Fi
  7. Enter the IP addresses for the cameras

The IP addresses of your cameras can be entered into the settings section of your smartphone’s app.

IOS Camera Control App

With a digital controller, you can use the app’s zoom, pan, tilt, and tilt features. You can also set presets and name them. Name them so that other people can use the system.

You can control your cameras wirelessly with the IOS app. You can control up to 4 cameras. This app is great if you need wireless technology to control your PTZ cameras in church.

Setting up wireless PTZ cameras is easy as long as you carefully follow the instructions. The user manual for your switch must ensure that it is properly set up. You will find the password or login information in the user manual.

After connecting your laptop to the Switch and the cameras, ensure they are both in the same IP range. You will need to assign a static IP address to the cameras for them to be easily found and controlled. Wirelessly connect your tablet or smartphone to the Switch and enter the IP addresses of your cameras. After this, your cameras will be ready for wireless operation.

To control the cameras, you can use your smartphone or tablet. You can set camera angles and shots. This setup will allow you to easily control and operate your video production system.
