Who Did God Help in the Bible?

Introduction

Throughout the Bible, there are countless examples of God helping and intervening in the lives of individuals, groups, and nations. The Bible is a testament to God’s love and grace and His willingness to help those who turn to Him in faith.

In this blog post, we will explore some of the most notable examples of God’s help in the Bible, drawing from the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible.

God Helps Individuals

One of the most well-known examples of God helping an individual in the Bible is the story of Moses. God spoke to Moses through a burning bush and called him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt (Exodus 3:1-10).

Moses initially doubted his ability to lead, but God assured him that He would be with him and provide him with the words to speak (Exodus 4:12).

God also provided Moses with signs and wonders to perform, such as turning his staff into a serpent and parting the Red Sea (Exodus 4:1-31; 14:21-22). Through Moses, God delivered the Israelites from slavery and led them to the Promised Land.

Another example of God helping an individual in the Bible is the story of Joshua. God commanded Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land and promised to give him victory over their enemies (Joshua 1:1-9).

Joshua trusted in God’s promise and led the Israelites to conquer the land of Canaan (Joshua 11:16-23). God was with Joshua and gave him the strength and wisdom he needed to lead the Israelites.

God Helps Groups

God also helped groups of people in the Bible, such as the Israelites. For example, God delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and led them to the Promised Land (Exodus 12:31-42; 13:17-22).

God also provided for the Israelites in the wilderness, such as giving them manna to eat and water to drink (Exodus 16:13-21; 17:1-7).

God also protected the Israelites from their enemies, such as the Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-13) and the Canaanites (Joshua 6:1-21). Throughout their journey, God was with the Israelites and helped them every step of the way.

God Helps Nations

God helped nations in the Bible as well. For example, God helped the nation of Israel in their battles against their enemies. God helped Israel defeat the powerful armies of the Philistines (1 Samuel 7:10-11) and the Assyrians (Isaiah 37:36).

God also helped the nation of Judah when they were threatened by the Babylonians (Isaiah 44:28-45:1). God’s help and protection extended to other nations as well, such as when He helped the nation of Egypt through Joseph (Genesis 41:37-57) and helped the nation of Nineveh through Jonah (Jonah 3:1-10).

God Helps in Times of Trouble

God also helped people in times of trouble. For example, God helped David when he was pursued by King Saul (1 Samuel 23:14-29) and helped Daniel when he was thrown into the lion’s den (Daniel 6:16-23).

God helped other people in the Bible as well, such as helping Elijah when he was running from Queen Jezebel (1 Kings 19:1-8) and helping Peter when he was imprisoned by King Herod (Acts 12:1-11). God’s help is always available to those who call on Him in times of trouble.

God Helps in Spiritual Matters

God’s help is not limited to physical needs and troubles but extends to spiritual matters as well. For example, God helped the apostle Paul when he struggled with a “thorn in the flesh” (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). God helped Paul understand that this thorn was given to him to keep him humble and rely on God’s strength.

Furthermore, God helps us in our spiritual growth and understanding of His word; as the apostle, Peter wrote, “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness” (2 Peter 1:3).

God Helps in Salvation

One of the most important ways God helps us is through salvation. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

However, God loved us so much that He sent His only son Jesus to die for our sins and rise again (John 3:16, Romans 5:8). Through faith in Jesus, we can have our sins forgiven and have eternal life (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Conclusion

The Bible is filled with examples of God helping and intervening in the lives of individuals, groups, and nations. From Moses and Joshua to the Israelites to David and Daniel, God’s help and guidance can be found throughout the Bible.

God continues to help and guide us today as we trust in Him and His promises. Whether we need help in physical matters, spiritual matters, or salvation, God is always ready and willing to help us. In all circumstances, we can trust in God’s word that says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
