What Does the Bible Say About Unborn Babies?

Introduction

As Evangelical Christians, it is important that we know what the Bible says about unborn babies. This topic has been controversial for many years, but it is essential that we study the scriptures to understand what God’s word says about the sanctity of life.

In this post, we will examine the Bible’s teachings on unborn babies and explore what it means for us as Christians. We will look at passages that speak to the value of life, the humanity of the unborn, and the importance of protecting and cherishing life in all its forms.

The Value of Life

The Bible teaches us that all life is valuable and that each person is created in the image of God. In Genesis 1:27, we read, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

This verse teaches us that every human being, from conception to natural death, is created in the image of God and is therefore valuable and worthy of dignity and respect.

As Christians, we are called to protect and cherish life in all its forms. This includes the lives of unborn babies. When we honor the sanctity of life, we are reflecting God’s character and upholding the value that He has placed on each and every person.

Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”

This passage tells us that God forms us in the womb and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. This means that every unborn child is uniquely created by God and deserves our love and protection.

In our culture, abortion is often seen as a matter of personal choice. However, as Christians, we must remember that every life is valuable in God’s eyes.

When we choose to support and advocate for the lives of unborn babies, we are demonstrating our commitment to upholding the sanctity of life that God has established.

The Humanity of the Unborn

The Bible also teaches us that unborn babies are human beings. In Luke 1:41, we read about Mary visiting Elizabeth while pregnant with Jesus. When Mary greets Elizabeth, we are told that “the baby leaped in her womb” because Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

This passage clearly shows us that John the Baptist, even while in his mother’s womb, was a human being capable of responding to the presence of God.

Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” This passage tells us that God has plans for us even before we are born. It also affirms that we are known and loved by God even before we take our first breath.

As Christians, it is our responsibility to defend the humanity of the unborn. We must advocate for their right to life, and we must work to ensure that they are treated with the same dignity and respect that we would show to any other human being.

Protecting and Cherishing Life

As Christians, we have a responsibility to protect and cherish life in all its forms. This includes the lives of unborn babies. Proverbs 31:8-9 says, “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die.

Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.” This passage instructs us to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, including unborn babies who are at risk of being aborted.

Psalm 82:3-4 says, “Defend the poor and fatherless; do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; free them from the hand of the wicked.” This passage tells us that we should defend those who are vulnerable and in need, including unborn babies who are at risk of being harmed.

In our society, there are many voices that seek to diminish the value of unborn life. Some argue that unborn babies are not fully human, while others claim that the mother’s choice should always take precedence over the life of the unborn child.

As Christians, it is our duty to stand up for what is right and to defend the sanctity of life.

We must speak up for unborn babies who cannot speak for themselves, and we must work to create a culture that values and cherishes every life.

This means supporting organizations that provide support and resources for pregnant women and families, advocating for laws that protect the lives of the unborn, and educating others about the value of every human being, from conception to natural death.

Finally, in Matthew 25:40, Jesus tells us, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

This passage teaches us that when we care for the vulnerable and needy, we are caring for Jesus himself. This includes caring for unborn babies who are at risk of being harmed or neglected.

As Christians, we must never forget that the lives of unborn babies are valuable and precious in God’s eyes. We must work to protect and defend them, and we must do so with the same love and compassion that Jesus showed to all people.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Bible teaches us that unborn babies are valuable, human beings created in the image of God. We have a responsibility to protect and cherish their lives, and to work to create a culture that values and respects every human being, from conception to natural death.

As Christians, we must stand up for what is right, and we must never be afraid to speak out on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our society. We must work to create a world where every life is valued and protected, and where unborn babies are given the chance to grow and flourish.

Let us be inspired by the words of Psalm 139:14, and remember that every human being, including unborn babies, is fearfully and wonderfully made. May we always honor the sanctity of life and work to build a culture that reflects God’s love and compassion for all people.
