Standing Firm in Faith: Examples of Bible Characters Who Put God First

Introduction – Bible Characters Who Put God First

Sometimes we have to make difficult decisions when it comes to our faith. We might have to stand up to our friends or even go against what our family believes. It’s not always easy, but as Christians, we know that putting God first is always the right thing to do.

In this article, we’ll look at some of the Bible’s most famous examples of people who put their faith in God first. We’ll see how they handled difficult situations and learn from their examples how we can stand strong in our faith.

Bible Characters Who Put God First

Moses – Servant of God

“And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them?” (Exodus 3:13).

Moses was one of the most influential figures in the Bible. He was a great leader and spokesman for God. When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, Moses was obedient. He put God first and followed His instructions.

Moses is an excellent example of someone who put God first. When God called him to lead the Israelites out of slavery, he didn’t hesitate. He knew God had a plan for him and was willing to follow it. Moses is an excellent example of faith and obedience.

Hannah – Putting God First in Prayer

Hannah is a great example of someone who put God first. She was a woman who was deeply devoted to Him and spent her time in prayer. She prayed without ceasing, no matter what life threw her way.

What’s really amazing is that Hannah’s prayers were heard, and God granted her request. She prayed for a child and was given one. Hannah was willing to put her faith in God, no matter the circumstances.

Joshua – Determined Service and Obedience

Joshua was a great leader because he was determined to serve God and obey Him no matter what. When God told him to take Jericho, he didn’t try to figure out a way to do it alone. He trusted that God would help him, and He did.

Joshua also had a great attitude. Even when things were tough, he never gave up. When the armies of Canaan surrounded the Israelites, Joshua didn’t lose faith. He knew that God would help them win the battle. And He did!

Ruth – Loyalty and Devotion to God

Ruth was a Moabite woman who, along with her mother-in-law Naomi, became part of the lineage of Jesus Christ. Ruth’s husband and sons died, leaving her and Naomi in a foreign land where they had to fend for themselves. However, Ruth’s loyalty and devotion to God led her to care for Naomi and put God first.

Ruth is an excellent example of how we should put God first in our lives, even when it’s difficult. When her husband died, Ruth could have easily gone back to Moab, where she would have had family and friends to support her. But instead, she chose to stay with Naomi and put God first.

Ruth also teaches us the importance of being loyal and faithful to God. Even though she was a Moabite, Ruth remained loyal to the God of Israel. And because of her faithfulness, God blessed her with a new husband and a son who was part of the lineage of Jesus Christ.

So, if you ever find yourself in a difficult situation or feeling alone, remember Ruth and how she put God first in her life. And know that if you do the same, God will bless you just as He did Ruth.

David – Full of Faith and Courage

David is one of the most popular characters in the Bible, and for a good reason. He was a man after God’s heart, providing us with a great example of faith and courage.

Even as a young boy, David had faith in God when confronting Goliath. When everyone else was cowering in fear, David stepped up and defeated the Philistine giant with just a sling and a stone.

David continued to put his faith in God throughout his life, even when things were tough. When fleeing from Saul, he didn’t give up or lose hope. And when Saul died, David became king and led the Israelites to victory against their enemies.

David’s story is a great reminder that we need to have faith in God, even when things are tough. Just like David, we need to trust that God will see us through whatever situation we face.

Mary, the Mother of Jesus – Submission to the Will of God

When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would conceive and bear the Son of God, she could have easily doubted and rejected what he was saying. But instead, she submitted to the will of God.

“Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”

Luke 1:38

Because she was fully surrendered to God, He used Mary mightily. Not only did she give birth to our Savior, but she also raised Him and watched Him grow into the man He was destined to be.

If we want to be used by God in a mighty way, we must first surrender our lives to Him. We must be willing to say, “Lord, let it be to me according to Your word.”

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Bible contains examples of people who put their faith in God and were rewarded. We can learn from these stories and apply them to our lives, knowing that God is always with us and will help us through anything.
