3 Powerful Ways God Is Building Your Personal Testimony For His Glory

In a nutshell, the article discusses the transformative power of personal testimonies in showcasing God’s glory, emphasizing the unique and impactful message each individual has through their experiences with faith, hope, and relationship with God.

It highlights the process of developing a powerful testimony, akin to the biblical prophet Isaiah’s experience, and underscores the importance of sharing personal faith stories to inspire and connect with others, ultimately for God’s glory.

God has given every one of us a unique message to bring to this world. It is a message of hope, faith, and a relationship with a gracious and loving God. It is a message that is communicated through our own personal testimony.

There is a process that people go through when God is developing their testimony. An excellent example of that process is what the prophet Isaiah went through as he describes it in the book of Isaiah chapter 6.

ISAIAH 6:1-8

It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. 2 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 They were calling out to each other,“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”4 Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.

5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.”8 Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

How Does God Build Your Personal Testimony?

To have a testimony that is not only unique but also powerful you have a process that you have to go through. It is a simple process, but being simple does not mean easy. It is simple yet hard.

You see, God is not going to share His glory and the credit due to His name with someone else. That includes you. So you can have a testimony that is unique, but if you do not go through this process, it will not be powerful.

I continually have to learn this lesson over and over again.

It seems that if I focus on myself that the effectiveness of what I am saying ceases. I have to remember that it is all about Him.

So please let me share with you what I have learned that makes a person’s Christian testimony so powerful.

For your story to have an impact, it must reflect how you have seen God high and lifted up.

Notice in the first verse that Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted upon His throne. You must see for yourself the supremacy and sovereignty of God in your life and that He is the one that is ultimately in charge. That may include some of the hard things you have gone through in life.

I never wanted to be single at age 50. I never wanted to have a failed marriage. I never wanted to struggle with depression after a divorce. Today, I see the Lord high and lifted up over all of these situations.

He has used them to enable me to speak directly into the hearts of people that think that God will never accept them because of their struggles and failures.

When you see God high and lifted up, and you recognize His supremacy and holiness, you become someone who Isaiah called “undone.”

That means that you are no longer self-sufficient. You are no longer the one in control. You realize that only by the grace of God can you walk forward from this time forward.

When you are walking in His sufficiency and not your own, then your Christian testimony becomes something that is not only able to touch other people, but becomes a sweet-smelling sacrifice in the presence of God.

A powerful God story needs to express how God has changed your life.

You will notice that Isaiah didn’t stay undone. He didn’t stay the person he was when he had the vision of God being high and lifted up.

The very thing that he saw that was defiled before God became the thing that was purified by God. In Isaiah’s case, it was unclean lips.

In yours or my case, it could be something else. Whatever it is, it must be something that God has changed in your life.

That is why many times we go through hard times. God wants us to experience something so that He can show Himself big enough to change a tragedy into a triumph, to replace a victim into a victorious person, to replace a test into a testimony, to shift a mess into a message.

Some of the most powerful messages I have ever shared have not been lofty theological treatises on esoteric subjects.

They have been when I have gotten real and personal with people about how God has taken my life and turned it around. That is the real power of the gospel.

It is not in learning how to preach. It is not learning theology at a Bible College, even though I am Bible College trained.

It is when an average and human person shares how an extraordinary God cares enough to change a mere human like ourselves.

It also removes all excuses from anyone that can speak, serve, love, and otherwise share what it is God has done for them.

You see, it is not about eloquence. It is not about being a gifted speaker.

I flunked speech in High School.

I am not the most eloquent speaker, and I never will be. But I can share what God has done in my life.

We have a lady in our church that communicates every month with the hurting families in our community by running our food bank and giving freely to them in their need with no strings attached.

She is uniquely sharing her testimony because she remembers what it was like to be in the position of needing food herself. If she can do it, so can you.

Your personal testimony of faith is important enough to share.

Many times I hear that people think their story is not essential. It is not worthy of being shared. Sometimes they say this because of some sense of modesty. I want to encourage you to get over that type of mentality.

If God has spent the time and effort to build your story, then it is worth being shared. He didn’t invest in you for no reason.

ISAIAH 64:8

AND YET, O LORD, YOU ARE OUR FATHER. WE ARE THE CLAY, AND YOU ARE THE POTTER. WE ALL ARE FORMED BY YOUR HAND.

Now notice in Isaiah 6 the question that God asks of Isaiah, who also wrote the passage above.

8 ALSO I HEARD THE VOICE OF THE LORD, SAYING:

“WHOM SHALL I SEND,

AND WHO WILL GO FOR US?”

THEN I SAID, “HERE AM I! SEND ME.”

The master potter has been building your personal testimony.

Your experience with the Lord needs to be communicated. God is looking around this world for ordinary people that will be willing to go for Him and share what He has done in their lives.

So I ask you the question.

Are you willing? Will you allow yourselves to be sent into your communities, into your workplace, into your families, and communicate what God has done for you?

What is your message?

What has God done for you?

How has He uniquely and purposefully worked in your life to prepare you to be His messenger to people that will not receive just another sermon?

Will you allow God to use you with the power of your personal testimony for HIs glory?

Blessings!
