Offering Verses From The Bible

Let My Offerings To God Magnify His Glory!

You might think an “offering” to God is a tithe, not so, an offering to God is more like seeding the Glory of God. Every offer is a willing gift from the heart to our Holy Father. Tithing on the other hand is a set amount that was given in the Word of God, the Bible. So let us turn from tithing and find out what an “offering” is.

bible scripture on offerings

Making an offering should be done regularly; it can be giving clothing to those who have little; helping with providing food, money for utilities to individuals; even working for the Church in some manner. There are many ways to make offerings to God by helping those with basic needs.

God always tells us to glorify Him by providing assistance to those you know have no earthly way to get the necessities of life; those who are not sure if the next meal will be there for them.

Below are scriptures that will help you understand what you are doing when you give an offering from your heart. God has promised that what you give as an offering from your heart you will receive in His blessings seven times in return.

In reading the scriptures listed, keep in mind that God is ALL POWERFUL, the creator of the universe, sun, moon, and earth, all in perfect balance.

His plan is endless; He knows every step that everyone on this earth will take and when they will take it; He knows the number of every hair on your head; He knows every thought in your mind and every feeling in your heart.

Bible Verses About Offerings

Deuteronomy 16:16-17  …No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed: Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.

NOTE: This sounds like God is asking a lot from you but in comparison to what He has and is still giving to us what He’s asking is nothing. When you become a follower of Jesus, your mindset will change from being slightly greedy to being a loving and giving person.

There is no room in heaven for greed and selfishness; break free from that disposition and make sure you give your heart offerings to God regularly.

Proverbs 11:24-25 One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

NOTE: God is telling you that by freely giving from the heart He will generously bless you. It is your compassion towards others that builds God’s glory.

There are so many people in this world that do not have enough to eat, enough clothing to keep them warm, not even running water. If just one person from every city would help one person who is in need what a wonderful place this would be.

Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

NOTE: When you give offerings from the heart the blessings you feel are beyond all the possession you have.

God is so good to us! Remember all the wonderful things he has given us, so many blessings, but most of all…Jesus, His only begotten Son to be beaten, scourged and spat on all to die on the cross at Calvary in order to forgive ALL sin from the past and into the future.

Hebrews 13:16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

NOTE: What God is telling you here is that helping others less fortunate than yourself brings Him the greatest Glory.

It shows Him that you are living the way He created you to live. Caring, like He does, for others who are in need of help from someone like you.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

NOTE: In Luke, we find that God is telling us that the number of offerings you give will be the amount you receive back. However, if you give offerings that are straight from the heart, without concern of the amount you can receive a seven-fold return of that gift.

Luke 12:15 Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

NOTE: Have you ever known someone who “never has enough”? God doesn’t want you to store up possessions on earth for you cannot take those possessions into a heavenly home.

All you worked for will ultimately be left to someone else so what real good is it to have an overabundance of goods; in God, it’s nothing more than greed. If you have an overabundance of anything in your life then you should be helping the less fortunate than you; God is glorified with your “from the heart” offerings.

Luke 12:33-34 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be.

NOTE: God does not ask you to sell “everything” you have, but the excess that you don’t need. If you have two coats, give one to someone who has none; if you have two pairs of shoes, give one to a needy person.

This is what God is talking about, help the poor and feed the hungry with the food you have stored away in your cupboards. Give your old or extra blankets, clothing, and other items necessary to live. In doing these things God will greatly bless you. Remember, “all things are possible with God.”

You will never feel a greater feeling of love, joy, and peace until the day you truly open your heart and ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins.

The reason Jesus bore the inhumanity suffered as He was dragged through the streets of Jerusalem and nailed to that cross, was for all humankind to receive forgiveness of their past, present, and future sins.

Jesus gave His life in the most humiliating way to make the entire world whole in God as it was in the beginning. When you find you want to give your life to Jesus, go to the Peace With God website.
