Three Options For Church Sanctuary Speakers – For Churches With Fewer Than 300 Members

Finding speakers for use in the church sanctuary.

Recently, I was reading an article about church sound systems. The article also included a guideline for spending. The article recommended that each congregation member spend $100.00 on a sound system. A 100-member church should spend 10,000 dollars, while a 200-member congregation should spend 20,000.

What? !?!

I realized that a church of 150 people couldn’t afford to spend that much on a sound system. It was impossible for a congregation to spend that much money on a sound system if they were serious about being good stewards. There has to be a better way.

This article is for those who want to provide great sound for the church members in their sanctuary without spending too much. This article is not suitable for people who want to analyze frequency ranges, sibilance, and peak thresholds.

Don’t get me wrong. We don’t want to hear crackling, hissing, or distortion. We don’t have to sound like Celine Dion on the MGM Grand. It is important to have something that both sounds good and works.

This is what I have in mind. Three sets of speakers have been created for the church sanctuary sound. I believe they will be a great fit for any church with fewer than 300 members.

Sanctuary Speakers Buyers’ Guide

These speaker systems can be used in a church sanctuary measuring approximately 5,000 square feet. Before you make your purchase, here are some things to consider.

Are You Looking To Upgrade?

Old age isn’t necessarily bad. Some people still prefer solid-state amps to tube amplifiers. You don’t have to replace an old set of speakers just because it isn’t in your budget.

This is not to convince you to buy a new set of church speakers. But I want you to be a wise steward of the gifts God has given you.

Ask yourself this question. We need new speakers. Are they worn out? Are they in need of a new paint job? Or are they better off being covered with vinyl fabric? Or could they be buzzing and hissing like dinosaurs?

Here are some things to consider when choosing speakers for a church sanctuary

You need first to consider where and how the speakers will be mounted.

Do you want to use a center-stage setup or a two-speaker setup in the corners? Two-speaker setups can give you greater room coverage, while a center stage set near the ceiling produces a more natural sound.

You must ensure that the sound is in good condition.

Once you have decided on the setup, you need to decide how to mount or hang your speakers. If you’re using the same system as before, this might not be a problem.

If you’re going to try something new, you will need to decide whether you want to use stands or wall mounts.

These are the easiest to install and require no special tools. They are, however, the most dangerous and ugly of all the options.

Wall mounts can be as easy as hanging ceiling mounts. Simply mount your brackets or shelves and attach the speakers to the brackets.

Ceiling mounts can be the most complicated of all the installation options. You must not only hang the wires and chains from the ceiling to the location of the speakers but also position them at the correct angles.

The wiring connecting to the speakers will also be important. The wiring should be hidden as much as possible. It is important that the mixing board is in a place that allows you to hear the sound coming from the speakers.

What number of speakers do you need?

As I mentioned earlier, deciding what your speakers are supposed to do is important. Do you want to be a loud church? Are you looking to drown out the congregation or fill the space with enough sound to allow everyone to hear the praise team’s singing?

You also need to think about what makes a good speaker to listen to someone talk. Music is only one aspect of the equation. A good speaker is also necessary for your pastor’s voice.

These are the reasons I don’t recommend the most expensive sanctuary speakers. I recommend good all-purpose speakers for churches. These speakers are not the best value for money unless you intend to be the next megachurch within the next five years.

Balance Quality and Cost

A bad sound system is something that we all hate. A terrible sound system is the worst thing. Let’s face it, we all need to be realistic. We are not all rockstars or Country and Western legends. We are all just ordinary people who use our gifts to glorify God.

Don’t buy cheap. Quality and reliability are important. You don’t want to spend much money on speakers that will eventually fail after six months.

You must balance quality and price. Your church sanctuary speakers should last a long time. This project is not something you want to repeat in five years. This article explains the cost of installing a church sound system.

Here are some final tips on finding the best speakers for church sanctuary sound

  1. Do not be afraid to experiment with new products. These speakers may not be what you are used to, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t work.
  2. Don’t forget about your basic needs, not your sound system wish list. If you have extra money, there is always time for upgrades.
  3. Don’t buy cheap. Do not buy for the bells and whistles. You should choose a sound quality that is reliable and has been tested.
  4. Do not be sold by church sound system gurus. Many churches sell more sound systems than they actually need.
  5. Learn the basics of sound systems.

I hope you’ve learned some information about church worship sound systems speakers. These sanctuary speakers are a great choice for any church.
