Who was Esther?

Esther was a Jewish woman who lived in the Persian Empire during the reign of King Xerxes. She was chosen to be the queen of the Persian Empire after the previous queen, Vashti, was deposed for disobeying the king’s orders (Esther 1:10-12).

Esther’s Beauty

Esther’s beauty is first mentioned in the Bible in the following verse:

“Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus which reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia, over a hundred and seven and twenty provinces:) That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,

In the third year of his reign, he made a feast unto all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him: When he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even a hundred and fourscore days” (Esther 1:1-4).

Esther’s beauty was so great that she caught the eye of King Xerxes and was chosen to be his queen. She was also described as “fair and beautiful” (Esther 2:7) and was well-liked by the king and his court.

Esther’s Inner Beauty

While Esther’s physical beauty was undeniable, her inner beauty truly set her apart. Esther was known for her humility, wisdom, and bravery. She was willing to risk her own life to save the lives of her people, the Jews, who were being threatened by a plot to annihilate them (Esther 4:13-16).

Through her actions, Esther demonstrated her deep faith in God and commitment to doing what was right, even when it was difficult or risky. She is an example of how true beauty comes from within and reflects a person’s character and values.

Conclusion

Esther’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of inner beauty and its role in our lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, our character and values are evident to those around us, and they significantly impact how we are perceived and treated by others.

By striving to cultivate inner beauty, we can become people of integrity and character, and we can make a positive impact on those around us.
