Heidi Baker Quotes

“I believe that Jesus would have given His life for just one person. Jesus emptied Himself, He humbled Himself and He so yielded Himself to His Father’s love that He had no ambition of His own. He was not looking to build an empire, He did not want praise or adulation or to impress people with who or how many followed Him. He stopped over and over again for just one person, for just one life.”

Heidi Baker

“More is accomplished by spending time in God’s presence than by doing anything else.”

Heidi Baker

“It is when you become immersed in the love of the Father that you truly begin to love like Jesus. He wants to immerse you. He wants to hold you. He wants to take you to a place where you are so far over your head in the river of God that miracles happen all around you. He wants to fill you entirely with His Holy Spirit.”

Heidi Baker

“To be a son or daughter of God also means you are royalty. This is the greatest of privileges, but it is also an awesome responsibility. If you are truly thankful to God and want to please Him with all your heart, you must do more than just recognize your own authority. You must use it. He asks you to give love as freely as you have received it— not just to those who deserve it but also to everyone He puts in front of you.”

Heidi Baker

“And His heart is always to heal the sick person.”

Heidi Baker

“No can be an anointed word. We cannot be saviors to all. We are servants, daughters, sons, and brides, but not saviors. There is only one Savior. We cannot have His job. We are called and allowed to rest. God is able to keep His world going, and in the meantime it is very important we do not do more than He is asking.”

Heidi Baker

“But I believe that if God can use a donkey, He can use me. I want to be a catalyst for God’s glory. I want to believe God can cause His love and glory to shine out of my little laid-down life—and out of your little laid-down life. No matter how impossible a promise from God seems, we can respond as Mary did, with a yielded cry of “Yes!”

Heidi Baker

“A new breed of ministers is rising up who will not wear out for the gospel. They are so caught up in passion, unity, and fullness that they run out and say, “World, here I come!” If they go into places where they get shot at, they are thrilled. If they do not get shot at, they are thrilled. If the place they go is filthy, they are thrilled. If it is clean, they are thrilled. Jesus is the joy set before them. He is their exceedingly great reward.”

Heidi Baker

“Saint Simeon once said that tears are a sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence.”

Heidi Baker

“No matter how deep we have gone, there is more.”

Heidi Baker

“We too must realize that developing a life in God’s presence above all else is the only way to fulfill our God-given destinies. Keys to our callings are released when we spend time there. We must always run to Him in the secret place to find the true source of life. What’s more, when we spend time in the secret place, our passion and hunger for Jesus grow. It is only as we abide in His presence that the most precious treasures can be born. This is much better than work! More is accomplished by spending time in God’s presence than by doing anything else.”

Heidi Baker

“God wants your ministry to flow from the realization that you are a beloved child of God. In that place you don’t worry too much about how people see you. You don’t worry too much about whether they’re nice or mean. You don’t even worry about whether they love you or hate you. You don’t worry because you’re simply going to love them and love Him. This comes from knowing who He is and what He thinks of you. This is what it means to grasp you are a child of God.”

Heidi Baker

“A minister is simply a sent one. You might only be sent across the street, but it does not matter. To God, whether it is to one or the masses, it is the same—it is love incarnate.”

Heidi Baker

“Rather than being purpose-driven, I prefer to be presence-centered. All our efforts in God’s Kingdom must originate from the place of rest, the place of His presence.”

Heidi Baker

“God, I’m not satisfied. I cannot live ankle-, knee-, or waist-deep. I must be completely immersed in Your presence. Lord, here I am. Immerse me. I do not want to keep from drowning. I want to drown in Your love. I want to know what it is to be immersed and undone. I want to know what it is to be out of control and for You to be totally and completely in control. Lord, come like a rushing river. I invite You to sweep me away to deeper places.”

Heidi Baker

“We have to let go of our preconceived ideas, our carefully worked-out plans, our way of doing things so God can live in us. We need new life, His life. If we are going to make room to carry His glory, we have to die first. We have to take our place at the cross and say, as Jesus said, “Not my will but yours, God. Your will. I will drink the cup You have called me to drink, whatever the cost.”

The Ministry Of Heidi Baker

In 1979, she met Rolland Baker, the grandson of missionary H. A. Baker, and they married six months later in 1980. They departed for the mission field two weeks after their wedding ceremony in 1980. In 1985, they were ordained as ministers.

In 1980, the Bakers established Iris Global, a non-profit Christian charity dedicated to social service and evangelism in particular in underdeveloped countries.

In 1995, the Bakers relocated to Mozambique to start a new ministry concerned with orphaned and abandoned kids.

Iris Global negotiated with the Mozambican government to take over financial and administrative responsibility for a former government orphanage in Chihango, about 30 kilometers from Maputo. There were approximately 80 children at the facility.

The ministry’s medical achievements are well-known, with reports of miracles being a trademark. In September 2010, Indiana University published (with the copyright of the Southern Medical Journal) an article documenting “highly significant” improvements in hearing and vision function among individuals with impairments after receiving prayer from the ministry.

According to Candy Gunther Brown, a professor of religious studies at Indiana University, the Bakers are “among the most influential church leaders in the world of Pentecostalism.”
