The story teaches us about the importance of forgiveness and redemption. It is a story about family, love, and survival.

How Did Joseph End Up in Egypt?

Joseph’s brothers, knowing that their father favored him, could not stand Joseph and plotted against him. In a jealous rage, they sold him into slavery, telling their father that Joseph had been killed. Joseph was taken to Egypt and sold as a slave to Potiphar, a court official in Pharaoh’s court.

The Trials of Joseph While Living in Egypt

Despite his difficult position, Joseph was a successful and faith-filled slave, and soon Potiphar saw that the Lord was with him and made him overseer over all his possessions.

When Potiphar’s wife attempted to seduce Joseph, he refused, and she brought false charges against him. As a result, he was thrown into prison, where he soon gained favor with the prison warden and even interpreted the dreams of two of his fellow prisoners.

Upon hearing of Joseph’s abilities, Pharaoh called upon Joseph to interpret his dreams of seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Joseph advised Pharaoh to store food during the coming years of plenty so that the nation would be prepared for the seven years of famine.

Pharaoh was so impressed by this advice that he appointed Joseph as the ruler of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself.

Joseph ruled Egypt ably and efficiently and was able to undertake important public works such as the construction of granaries for the storage of food. When his brothers had to come to Egypt for food during the years of famine,

Joseph finally revealed himself to them and reconciled with them. Thus Joseph’s troubles were ultimately used by God to accomplish a greater good, and Joseph was able to save Egypt and his family.

How Did Joseph’s Brothers React to Being Reunited With Him?

When Joseph’s brothers saw him, they were amazed and realized how wrong they had been. They were overwhelmed with guilt for what they had done and could not believe that Joseph had forgiven them. Some of them even began to cry when they saw their long-lost brother standing in front of them.

Joseph, on the other hand, was overcome with emotion as well. Nonetheless, he was determined to make peace with his brothers and provided them with a place to stay during their time in Egypt.

He even made sure that the whole family could live together in the same area of the city so that he could keep an eye on them and ensure their safety.
