How Should Christian Trump Supporters Live If Joe Biden Wins?

As I wrestle with my own anger and grief at what I have seen this week, I am also aware that I need to speak as a leader within the kingdom of God.

I will never be convinced, and I believe posterity will eventually agree that there was no scientific/statistical way the results being posted now were honest, fair, or just. They are not only improbable, but they are also impossible. Our vote was stolen from us. Thus the very bedrock of our constitutional republic has crumbled.

Now the courts may or may not rectify this, however, the fact remains that the one sacred value that all Americans shared has now been corrupted.

Because of that, the reality is whether we want to accept it or not, is that our nation as we know it has fallen. So what do we do?

As believers in Jesus Christ and as citizens of the kingdom of God we need to remember 4 things.

#1 We need to remember who we are.

We are children of the King of kings and Lord of lords. We are citizens of a kingdom that is not of this world. Our allegiance is not to earthly kingdoms but the kingdom of God. Thus we continue to live as strangers in a strange land.

#2 We need to remember who God is.

God is good and nothing is above His ability to redeem. Whether our nation falls or rises, God works all things out for good for those who love Him and are THE called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

You are good and do only good; teach me your decrees.

Psalm 119:68

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.

1 John 1:5

This 2020 year has been a year where God has brought to light many things that were hidden, both in the church and outside the church and it has been good for us. We were able to see who would stand for Jesus when the government said sit.

We could see who believed and didn’t because their actions didn’t line up with the words they mouthed over the last 20 or more years. There was a sifting.

And that sifting is continuing. Now we see who will be citizens of the Kingdom over just cultural Christians. Are we Christian Americans or American Christians?

#3 Continue Stepping Out.

If there is going to be a redemption of America and our culture we can no longer be complacent and just expect people to fill the seats of our churches. We must get the butts out of the seats and into the streets. The attractional model of church growth must be replaced with a missional model.

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Cor. 5:18-21

God SENT Jesus and God is SENDING us to the world. He is not sending the world to us. That is backward.

#4 Be Salty and be filled with light.

Most people try to define salt as a preservative. However, they miss the fact that salt makes you thirsty. Be the type of person that makes others thirst for the things of the kingdom of God. Be people who give a drink of the Spirit to dry and thirsty land.

The same goes for being filled with light. Most people see light as driving away the darkness. However, light attracts bugs. Be the type of person that attracts bugs in the midst of darkness. Be the type of person that shines a light on the path of others so they can see how to navigate their way.

Finally, remember that we are not an island. We are not self-sufficient; we need others. We need to plant ourselves in a community of like-minded believers who will strengthen and encourage us in the days ahead.

No matter what happens with the courts, government, or nation, remember Jesus is Lord.
