Bible Verses On Not Giving Up

Have You Ever Had That Feeling “why Go On—may As Well Give Up;” How Should You Handle That?

Like so many others, when reading your Bible you may suddenly find that you do not comprehend what you’re reading which probably means it’s time to stop reading and ask God to give you a true interpretation of the scripture and the knowledge to apply it. It’s amazing how quickly the confusion will disappear; ask that He open the eyes of your heart so you can see His purpose for the words written there.

bible scripture on not giving up

Here we’re going to check out some of what many people feel are important scriptures and what makes them so important. The first thing we must remember is that all scripture is important, just that some are more meaningful to us in this age. For example, what would this world be without the book of Genesis; the creation of this universe, this planet, the human race; or Revelation which gives us the clear meaning of the events and a picture of the end days prophecy. So if you look at the Bible in those terms, you will see that God has left us a complete picture of past, present, and future events.

God gave us the Bible as a directive on how to live a wholly Christian life; how to walk with Jesus and use the Holy Spirit who is (God’s gift to us) living within each and every follower of Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit was a gift from God when His Son Jesus Christ ascended into heaven; as a follower and believer in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was given to us so we would have a teacher, a guide and a helper throughout your lifetime, and someone who will never leave us. When you pray include asking how to get in “touch” with God’s Holy Spirit and begin a closer walk with Him. He is always there waiting to assist you in any way you need.

Bible Verses About Not Giving Up

Colossians 1:15-20 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

NOTE:  Through this scripture, God is relating that Jesus was made as the visible image of God; an image which pleased God because everything of Himself was within Jesus, the complete visible image of God. God was very pleased when Jesus agreed to leave heaven and experience the shame and suffering that would be put upon him. We should give glory to God for sending Jesus to us, and always praise and glorify Jesus for agreeing to come to earth; it is only through the shame, and unbelievable suffering and His blood being shed from the cross that the sins of all humanity both past, present and future were forgiven.

Psalms 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

NOTE: If you’re feeling fear you need to ask Jesus to rid you of that negative feeling. Fear is one of Satan’s best weapons against you. Jesus always looks after his followers but sometimes you have to stand up with Him and demand Satan out of your house, or presence. You can ask the Holy Spirit that dwells within you to assist you in ridding yourself of Satan’s evil; the Holy Spirit in your heart has the authority (with your hand in His) to send Satan right back to Hell through the Holy Name of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

NOTE: You may be well educated and filled with knowledge, however, you have no idea what “real knowledge” is; our Lord has more information about you and everything around you than you can even imagine. When He said He knows the number of hairs on your head, He actually does know. Our Lord knows everything about all people, He hears your thoughts, feels your pain, and sends you His love, peace and joy continually.

I Corinthians 15:56-58 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

NOTE:  God tells us in this scripture that death is the consequence of sin. Since Jesus gave his life to forgive the sin of every human, we need to stand firm against the actions of Satan. We should never allow fear of the darkness to divert us from our responsibilities as true followers of Jesus Christ; as His follower you can always stand in the light of His love.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves, treasures on earth where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasurer is there your heart will be also.

NOTE: You should stop and take a good look at what you’re doing when you go to work and stay until midnight. Are you working like that to support your family, or is it some semblance of greed? Are you working to gather possessions here on earth? Could you support your family without putting your entire self into the job? What’s going to happen to the wealth and possessions you are collecting when you die? You will leave everything to someone else who may not appreciate those possessions as deeply as you do. Just remember the saying and the truth it holds: “you can’t take it with you!”  God has so much more for you in heaven.

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth bucked around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

NOTE: God’s armor is an extraordinary special gift. He gave us this suit of armor to protect us from the darkness and attacks of the enemy. However, you have to put that armor on every day to gain that protection. God has ways to fend off Satan’s attacks and this is one of the better of them for humans; by wearing this armor you will remain in the safety of His loving arms and maintain the strength to stand firm.

Conclusion – Don’t Give Up

When you begin studying the Bible, you will find so much joy flowing into your heart; the special scriptures are your message from heaven. If you read the Bible and heed what it says you cannot go wrong; just doing the work that God assigns you will bring you joy and success in all that you undertake; God is here with you and always looks forward to your meeting Him in heaven. If you grow with God and Jesus in your heart nothing can defeat you!
