5 Ways To Put God First

Introduction – 5 Ways To Put God First

It’s easy to get so caught up daily that we forget to put God first. But when we make Him the center of our lives, everything else falls into place. In this post, we’ll share five ways to put God first in your life.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33
5 ways to put God first

Make Prayer a Priority

When you prioritize prayer, you open yourself up to God’s guidance and wisdom in every aspect of your life. Prayer doesn’t have to be long or complicated. Just take a few minutes each day to talk to God about what’s on your mind and heart.

Set aside time each morning to pray, and be sure to pray before bed. When you make prayer a regular part of your routine, you’ll find it easier to put God first in everything you do.

Worship God in Spirit and Truth

The Bible commands us to worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:24). What does this mean for us today?

For starters, it means we should worship God with our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It also means that we should worship Him in a way that is true to who He is. We shouldn’t twist or manipulate His Word to fit our agenda. Instead, we should allow His Word to shape how we worship Him.

Finally, it means we should always seek Him first and foremost. We should allow Him to be the center of our lives and world. We will find true joy and satisfaction in Him if we do this.

Pursue a Closer Relationship With God

One of the best ways to put God first is to pursue a closer relationship with Him. This could mean reading your Bible daily, praying regularly, or attending church services.

When you prioritize God in your life, everything else falls into place. You’ll find that you have more patience and resilience, and you’re better able to handle whatever life throws your way. You’ll also be more content and at peace, knowing you’re right where you’re supposed to be.

Spend Time in His Word

One of the best ways to put God first is to spend time in His Word. The Bible is packed with so much wisdom and insight, and it’s a great way to get to know God better.

But spending time in the Bible doesn’t have to be a chore. There are plenty of ways to make it fun, like reading a devotional or finding a study guide that covers a topic you’re interested in. You could even start a Bible journal where you jot down your thoughts and reflections on what you’re reading.

No matter how you do it, spending time in the Bible is a great way to put God first and get to know Him better.

Live Your Life in a Way That Pleases Him

One way you can ensure that you’re putting God first is by living your life in a way that pleases Him. This means making choices that align with His Word and will for your life.

It also means obeying His commands and living a life that glorifies Him. This doesn’t mean that you’re perfect or never make mistakes, but it does mean that you’re striving to live according to His standards.

It’s also important to be mindful of how you live your life in public. Are you living in such a way that would cause someone to question your faith? Are you living in a way that would make it difficult for someone to see Christ in you?

Remember, we are called to be witnesses to Christ, and our lives should reflect that. We should live in a way that points others to Christ and leads them to put their faith in Him.

How to Stay Focused on God

When you feel like you’re losing focus, there are a few things you can do to get back on track.

First, take a step back and assess your priorities. Make a list of the things most important to you, and see where God falls. If He’s not at the top, it’s time to readjust.

Second, take time for yourself – away from distractions like your phone, the TV, and social media. Sit in silence and reflect on all the things you’re grateful for. Think about how every one of those things is a blessing from God.

Third, reach out to a friend or family member who is religious and talk to them about your relationship with God. It’s always helpful to have someone to talk to who understands what you’re going through.

Fourth, if you’re struggling to find time for God in your busy schedule, try waking up earlier or going to bed later so you can fit in some extra prayer or Bible reading. Or if you always do a particular task that you can use as an opportunity to pray (like driving to work or doing the dishes), make a habit of doing that.

Finally, don’t be afraid to ask God for help! He wants you to succeed just as much as you do, and He’ll guide you every step of the way.

Conclusion

So, how can you put God first in your life? Here are five ways to get started:

  1. Make time for prayer and reflection.
  2. Set aside time each day to read the Bible.
  3. Seek out community with other believers.
  4. Volunteer your time and resources to help those in need.
  5. Donate to charities and ministries that align with your faith.

Regardless of your choice to put God first in your life, remember that He is always there waiting for you. He loves you and wants to be a part of your daily life.
