Eyewitnesses have shared their experiences of the revival, recounting the genuine and unassuming worship, the absence of any showboating or emotional excesses, and the unity among people from different denominations.

They describe a sense of complete freedom in worship, where people sang and prayed together with no regard for their differences in faith. Eyewitness Accounts

David Lorimer

David Lorimer traveled to Asbury University to personally witness the ongoing revival. He was drawn to experience the event and understand what God was doing there. When he arrived, he was struck by the beauty of over 1500 people praising and worshiping God in a calm and sincere spirit.

He noticed that the atmosphere was not wild or crazy, nor was it hyped or forced. Attendees were not there for a concert or show but to seek God and be with His people. He experienced a sense of freedom and an absence of distractions that allowed him to focus on God. David saw people of all ages and from many different colleges coming together to seek God. He found the experience heartwarming and believed that no matter where people start, God can work in their lives when they seek Him.

David described the event as a revival of praise and worship. He noted that the music, prayer, and scripture that were included in the event were tasteful and beautiful. He emphasized that the event was done decently and in order, with no promotion of individuals, barking, or crazy occurrences. He encouraged others to experience the revival firsthand and to see for themselves what God was doing at Asbury University.

Ben Bland

Ben, an apostolic Pentecostal, was moved by a powerful worship experience during a revival at Asbury University. They were struck by the freedom and peace of worship that they experienced, which was different from their usual church service. The atmosphere was one of complete sincerity and dedication to seeking God, with people singing to the top of their lungs and praying with open bibles. The writer was inspired by the hunger and sincerity that they saw in the people around them, and realized the pride in their own hearts that had been keeping them from fully expressing their worship.

The worship experience was characterized by complete freedom and a lack of order, with people singing, crying, jumping, and praying as they felt led. The service went on for hours, with no end in sight, and people poured in from all walks of life and religious backgrounds. The writer witnessed someone being filled with the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues and was moved by the love of God that they experienced during the revival. The altar was open at all times, with people waiting on the Lord and helping others with whatever they needed.

The writer encouraged others to come to the revival and experience the love of God for themselves. They reflected on the power of prayer and the promise of the Bible that God would pour out his spirit on all flesh. They were grateful to be a part of the truth and to have witnessed such a powerful worship experience. The revival had started as a prayer meeting and had gone on for 24 hours a day for five days, with no end in sight. The writer was inspired by the dedication and passion of the people seeking God and hoped to carry that same hunger and sincerity into their own worship.

Kayleigh Guest

Kayleigh Guest shared her experience of attending the Asbury University revival and was left speechless by the powerful presence she encountered for the past 8 hours. She noted the overflow of cars and people on the streets, all there to experience the revival firsthand. The chapel was almost full of people of all ages singing the same songs, and saying different prayers for different reasons, but all worshipping the same God. She observed people expressing different emotions, from tears of joy and brokenness to cries of surrender and shouts of thanks. She saw souls being saved, and every chain is broken, as the Spirit in the room radiated from one person to the next.

Kayleigh was inspired by the unity and vulnerability of the people she witnessed, from parents modeling what it looks like to love and live for God to the university students who set an amazing example of having no shame in God’s game. She was moved to see this generation coming together and worshiping in such a vulnerable way, showing no fear or shame. She encouraged others to break free from the social norm and show their friends how blessed they are because of God. She acknowledged that she had doubted God in the past and let shame and people come between her relationship with Him, but the revival was a wake-up call for her.

Kayleigh insisted that experiencing the revival firsthand was essential and encouraged others to make the trip. She saw people from all over the country who did not regret being there. She believed that this revival is what the current generation needs to break free from the pattern of the world and live by God’s example. She encouraged people to transform their minds and not conform to the world. She ended her post by expressing her conviction that, after experiencing the revival, she knew that God is the one to serve in today’s world.

Tanya Ortenzi Holt

Tanya Ortenzi Holt described the striking contrast of people present at the Asbury University revival. She saw dignified men in suits and ties and tattooed guys in ball caps and t-shirts. The crowd was predominantly young adults, but there were also young families with toddlers and elderly couples with white hair and slow steps. She met people who had driven from Lexington, Georgetown, Florence, and West Virginia to join the revival, and some even slept in their cars to stay close by.

Tanya observed that people from various denominations, such as Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals, Charismatics, Anglicans, Christian Church, and non-denominational Christians, were present, worshiping and praying together in unity, regardless of their differences. She joined hands and prayed with total strangers without asking each other’s church denominations or stopping to go through a checklist of doctrinal beliefs.

There were no showboating or emotional excesses. Instead, there was a unified desire to be in God’s presence, and it seemed that no one wanted to leave, even when the service was “dismissed” for supper. Only a quarter of the people there actually left the building, and the singing continued as if the service was never dismissed at all.

Tanya expressed her hope that the revival would have a lasting impact and spread beyond Asbury University. She was blessed by her experience and believed that many others wanted to be a part of it.

Forrest Coleman

As of now, for 132 hours worship and prayer have been happening at Asbury University. I went this morning and experienced it myself. Here are some notes.

  • -Zero hype – this is about as pedestrian of a worship experience I have had. No flash or glam, just simple, raw singing, prayer, and small testimony.
  • -No specific human leader – no fancy sermons or celebrity personalities. Just a rotation of everyday people leading singing, scripture reading, and prayer.
  • -We aren’t surprised – for the last several decades’ folks have been praying specifically for revival to happen in central Kentucky. (You know who you are). One key player of theirs has been disciple-making churches to be ready or planted to receive a move of God in central Kentucky.
  • -This is growing every day – tonight apparently they have opened a second and third chapel to handle the overflow and there is a line out the door to get in (last picture)
  • -Only God is getting the credit – no individual, specific church or the university is being elevated, but only King Jesus
  • -What will happen next? Even if it ends tomorrow, continual prayer and worship for days I would imagine would make heaven smile.
  • -But let’s ask God to continue to move.

That is our prayer here at Viral Believer as well. Come Holy Spirit. Move upon our nation and the world.
