Bible Verses On Mourning The Loss Of A Loved One

Everyone has experienced the loss of a loved one during their life on Earth. It can be an extremely hard time for the survivors to cope with. They don’t realize that God has taken that person either to save them from times of disease and suffering, or the timeline God has set for that person at birth has come to a conclusion. God has control over everything in all universes which includes the time something is to cease living. Even the stars in the heavens have time to become dim and spurn their light.

Bible scriptures on mourning the loss of a loved one

Bible Verses About Mourning

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;

NOTE: This very important passage lets us know that God has everything planned according to His glory and He has control of when each step of our lives is to meet those plans. So rejoice in the knowledge that God is taking care of your loved ones just as He promised.

Isaiah 57:1-2 The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.

NOTE: In this passage, God is telling survivors who lost a loved one the reason they have been taken. He specifically says that the righteous are taken to keep them from the evil of this world. Death is not the end but actually the beginning; God always watches over his followers (believers) and will not allow a true righteous follower to be taken over by evil. He will be there for them and if necessary, will take them to be with Him in His unrelenting love.

1 Thessalonians 4:13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

NOTE: In this scripture, God is assuring the world that death is not the end of life. When Jesus returns to this earth He will call the dead to rise up and go with Him in their new glorified bodies. If you try to imagine what God’s plan for this earth is, it will boggle your mind. God’s power is so great that we can’t even imagine how magnificent it is. We should not mourn the dead, but rejoice that they are safe with our eternal Father God.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.

NOTE: God’s promise to the world is that once Jesus returns there will be a new earth, one of peace without evil, without crying or mourning the dead, for He will cleanse this world of the evil and will rule the earth as our King. All Gods’ followers will live in peace, love, and joy for the next thousand years.

Conclusion

One of the most difficult things of losing someone is the emptiness you feel inside when you pick up the phone to call them and then remember that they are with our Father now. That’s when the sadness comes rolling back into your heart. If you just keep in mind that “they are with our Father now” that emptiness will subside and joy will replace it. For your loved one, if they are a follower of God, there is no more sorrow, pain or suffering, no tears, and no more evil to fight.

God does not reveal to you the time or hour in which He will take you home. If He revealed this information to you, you would be so busy worrying about it that you would not be able to do the work He has set you on this earth to do. You must know and believe that God is in complete control of all things and when it is time for you to have knowledge He will give it to you.

There is nothing wrong with mourning over the loss of a loved one, just don’t allow it to overcome you to the point you can’t function in your daily life for that is exactly what the evil one wants you to do. The people you are mourning are through with all the pain, suffering, and heartache of the earth and are now rejoicing in the Kingdom of God. Try to imagine what heaven is like. As beautiful as this earth is, it doesn’t even, in its most minute aspect, compare with even the gates of heaven.

God is urging every human to accept Him as your one and only God and rejoice in His love for you and all the blessings He showers on us. God is our ultimate refuge in times of need or sorrow He will always lighten your heart and bless you with His love and protection when you are under attack by the evil one.

You should study your Bible every day, after all, it is God’s Word, and God never lies or breaks his promise.

He is a wonderful God that dearly loves His human creations.

Think about the mourning God must have done upon choosing His only begotten Son to bring the news of Him and save the world by being beaten, kicked, slapped, spat upon, and pulled through the streets in shame with hundreds of lash marks on his body. To add insult to injury, a crown of thorns was placed on this head and He was mocked as being the King of the Jews.

Jesus died that day to save every person on earth or will ever be on the earth, from all sin. Jesus actually took on the sin of the world in order to save us all.
