Did you know that according to the dictionary, the words “fear” and “worry” have the same meaning? When you worry about something you are fearing that very thing. Jesus tells you in the Bible not to be afraid or fear anything, for He is there to protect you. We have a tendency to forget that Jesus is “always” by our side. He protects, heals, comforts, and sees to our every need; He has told us many times in the Bible to lay our burdens on Him; allow Him to carry those burdens because He loves you; He tells you that your burdens are heavy, to let Him carry them for you, as He did at the cross; and, to take up His Yoke for it is light.
His promise is that He will never leave you; He will never forsake you; believing in Jesus Christ and building your faith in Him is all you need to do. Keep in mind that Jesus went voluntarily to the cross to save you from the evils of this world; He gave His life in the most despicable way possible so that you could have a life without sin; so that you could have the chance to live forever, eternally with Him in Paradise. Study the following scriptures, and you will find there is never any cause to worry, He’s always standing right by your side when you need Him.
9 Bible Verses About Fear And Worry
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
You heard me when I cried, “Listened to my pleading! Hear my cry for help!” Yes, you came when I called; you told me, “Do not fear.”
Lamentations 3:56-57
Don’t be afraid, O land. Be glad now and rejoice, for the Lord has done great things.
Joel 2:21
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Matthew 6:25-34
NOTE: In this scripture, God is telling us that we should only look to Him for all our needs and cares; He always has and always will take care of all our needs; God is complete love; He designed us; He formed us; He brought us to life by breathing His all-powerful breath of life into our lungs. Just open your heart to Him and allow the blessings, love, and protection in; you will never regret letting God hold your heart.
“But don’t be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is coming when everything that is covered will be revealed; and all that is secret will be made known to all. What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear! Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Matthew 10:26-31
Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.
Luke 2:9-10
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and he will give you everything you need. So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it give your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.
Luke 12:31-32
Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. ”So we can say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’”
Hebrews 13:5-6
And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us. Furthermore, we have seen with our own eyes and now testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. All who declare that Jesus is the Son of God have God living in them, and they live in God. We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in God and God lives in them. And as we live in God our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.
1 John 4:13-18
