Throughout History, The Bible, and specific scripture passages have been used to give encouragement to men and women of God.

These verses of encouragement have motivated people to change their lives, their lifestyles, their families, and even their countries.

As I did my research for this post, I found myself amazed at how God can use a simple Bible verse to encourage people to rise up above their circumstances and become mighty men and women of valor.

It is my prayer that as you read these encouraging Bible verses, you too will find the strength and inspiration to rise up above the circumstances in your life and be the next man or woman of God who changes their world.

15 Encouraging Bible Verses

Paul, who was first named Saul, was a latecomer to the early church. He was not converted until God literally had to knock him off His donkey and confront him personally.

However, after that encounter with God, he became one of the most prolific writers of the early church. I find great strength and encouragement by reading some of Paul’s verses that encouraged Him and others.

Romans 1:12

12 When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.

Romans 15:4

4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.

2 Corinthians 7:4

4 I have the highest confidence in you, and I take great pride in you. You have greatly encouraged me and made me happy despite all our troubles.

2 Corinthians 13:11

Paul’s Final Greetings

11 Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.

Ephesians 4:29

29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Philippians 2:1-3

Have the Attitude of Christ

1 Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate? 2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words

Hebrews 10:25

25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

Peter’s Final Greetings

12 I have written and sent this short letter to you with the help of Silas,[a] whom I commend to you as a faithful brother. My purpose in writing is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God’s grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.

James 5:8

8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

1 John 2:28

Living as Children of God

28 And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
