Bible Verses About Mental Health

Mental Health Is Much More Than Just An Upset Or Worried Mind; Mental Health Can And Often Does Take Over Your Feelings Of Safety In Your Own Home And From Those Around You.

If you’ve never studied the Bible, then you may not know how much help from times of stress there is listed in it. God never meant for man to stress and be afraid of failure or losing his place on this earth. Rather, God has always wanted man to prosper and live a full, happy, peaceful life. However, in today’s world, those are not easy things to hold onto. With the stresses that come from your job, family, and friends, you may find yourself in a devastating place. In a situation like that, the very best thing to do is to pick up the Bible and start looking for scripture that will assist you in letting go of all the evil and unholy thoughts that sometimes come into your mind.

Some people go for years without knowing how to ease the pain of stress and the inability to shed some of life’s events from their minds. Follow the Bible verses below and then search for more scriptures that will assist you in eliminating the negative or evil thoughts you may have running through your head. First, always look to God; then you will find the peace and joy you have been searching for.  He is the only answer you need to rid yourself of the mixed-up negative, yes, even evil, feelings you have with any mental health issue.

10 Bible Verses On Mental Health

The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Psalms 34:16-19

As with a breaking of my bones, My enemies reproach me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

Psalms 42:10-11

Thus my heart was grieved, and I was vexed in my mind. I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalms 73:21-26

Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head. I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars closed behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, into Your holy temple.

Jonah 2:5-7

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that may not enter into temptation.”

Luke 22:39-45

I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart.

Romans 9:1-2

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecution, in distresses, for Christ’s sake, For when I am weak, then I am strong.  (emphases added.)

2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things with you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:6-9

Conclusion

To maintain a complete relationship with our Lord, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit, you need to read your Bible daily, read a chapter or two and allow the information you read to be absorbed into your entire being.

Reading the information several times is often valuable to glean a true understanding of what you are reading. Pray before you enter your study time in the Bible. Pray that you will be aware of every word written and have the wisdom to understand that awareness completely.

Just remember that God is always with you, and when you are into His word, He will be there helping you every step of the way…the way back to Him! You will grow in God’s love with every page you read, with every prayer you say before opening the Bible, and with every question, you have concerning its contents.

Have a pen and paper beside you so you can note your questions and take them to your Pastor or someone who has true knowledge of the Bible. Remember, “…seek and you shall find…” (Matthew 7:7)
