We are the Body of Christ
The church is one of the most loved and one of the most hated institutions in society. Those that love it, love it for good reasons. Those that hate it also hate it for good reasons.
These Bible verses about church hopefully will give all of us a better picture of the purpose of the church and in doing so maybe we can increase those that love the church and reduce those that hate the church.
I truly believe that the reason many people are upset with the church is not that they are upset with the original intent for the church that God had, but that man has perverted the purpose of the church and made it into something it was never intended to be.

The word “church” in the Greek language is “Ekklesia” which means “called out ones.” It does not mean buildings or denominations.
It is the people of God who have been called out of the world and called to band together for each other’s mutual benefit. It is meant to be the physical representation of Jesus in this world.
These verses about the church will show this to be true.
28 Great Bible Verses About The Church
From The Gospels
17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. 18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”
Correcting Another Believer
15 “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. 16 But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses. 17 If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
From The Book Of Acts

So the churches were strengthened in their faith and grew larger every day.
“So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood —over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as elders.

Final Thoughts About The Church
As you can see, the church not only was God’s idea, founded by Jesus himself, but it is God’s instrument to be used to bring His goodness and mercy to this world.
I heard it once said and I believe it to be true that a person who says that they love Jesus but hate the church is a hypocrite because how can you love someone and not love those that belong to Him? How can you love the head only but not love the body?
The church is imperfect. It is filled with imperfect people, but God’s divine plan was still to establish the church on earth.
If you are looking for a perfect church, then stop because the moment you find that perfect church, and you enter it, you will make it imperfect.
There is not a perfect church. Just a church that is forgiven by the grace of Jesus.
