Asbury Revival Enters Into Fourth Day

What started as a standard chapel service at Asbury University has turned into a massive gathering. People from other cities and colleges are now flocking to Asbury to be a part of this incredible event.

On Friday evening, Hughes Auditorium was filled to capacity with hundreds of worshippers. Freshman Ava Martin was in awe, saying, “There are just no words to describe it.”

While chapel services are common at Asbury, this particular one was remarkable due to its length. It started on Wednesday morning at 10 am and has yet to end. According to Miller, who was there when it began, people didn’t leave to attend classes or lunch, and as time passed, more and more people started coming back to the chapel. The administrators have provided food and water to those in attendance, and the event has even spread beyond Asbury’s campus. Miller reported that they had visitors from Transylvania, Asbury UK, and Mount Vernon Nazarene College, with a revival breaking out at Ohio Christian University.

This is not the first time such an event has taken place at Asbury. In 1970, there was a revival that lasted for 144 hours. Regardless of its duration, the university hopes that this revival will leave a lasting impact.

“We pray that God will be honored and that the students and everyone’s lives will be changed,” said Mark Whitworth, a Vice President at Asbury University.

Many students shared their experiences, including Abigail Glei, who felt peace about God’s sovereignty. Senior Ashley Schumacher described feeling the weight of the Holy Spirit as soon as she re-entered Hughes after chapel. Junior Andrew Seamands shouted in a moment of testimony, “God is so awesome!” Freshman Kiara King felt a push from God to keep going on the right path.

No matter what each individual experienced, there was a shared understanding that it was time to surrender, pray, and continue worshiping. Zach Meerkreebs acted as a leader throughout the revival, reminding everyone that it stems from radical humility and a willingness to humble ourselves before the Lord.
