Bless Your Pastor With These Pastor Appreciation Month Ideas

The Importance Of Pastor Appreciation Month

I must confess that I feel a little strange writing this article because I do not want to give the impression that I am looking, or for that matter, any Pastor is looking for recognition for what they do.

I serve the most incredible bunch of people that any person could serve at my church in Pine Haven. I love them dearly, and they show me appreciation throughout the year.

However, it is scriptural for you to show those that serve you in ministry appreciation for what they do. They do a lot behind the scenes that you are not aware of.

Paul told Timothy to

1 Timothy 5:17
[ Honor the Elders ] Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

Just as many of you like to know that what you are doing at work or for Jesus is appreciated, your Pastor is no different.

It means a lot to him when he finds out that his service is not unnoticed.

5 Ways To Show Your Pastor That You Appreciate Him.

#1 Interrupt his program on a Sunday morning and organize where people testify how He has touched their lives.

Pastors do not get into the ministry for personal gain. They do it because they want to touch people’s lives for Jesus.

Share with him and the congregation how this servant of God has succeeded in doing what He set out to do.

#2 Bless his family.

Pastors often have stresses within their families caused by the ministry.

His wife is often the target of all the negative feelings going around, and his children are expected to be above and beyond what is expected of other children, which hurts the hearts of all involved.

By blessing his family, you are blessing him because those are the people that are dearest to his heart.

So do something special for his wife or children.

#3 Do something that will refresh his soul.

Pastors are expected to spiritually nourish their congregation every week, time and time again.

This often drains them, and they need someone to minister to them.

Bless them by sending them to a retreat for Pastors or a Pastor’s conference where they can sit in the congregation and receive from somebody else rather than giving.

#4 Commit yourself to be more faithful.

I know that this might sound strange to some of you, but a pastor’s biggest battle is the battle on Monday morning about whether or not what He is doing is worth it.

When people do not show up, it weighs heavily on his heart.

I know for myself I spend a great deal of time preparing my heart and my message for those who come, and when people place things like fishing, boating, camping, and football above being faithful to show up, it is hard not to take it personally.

#5 Relieve the stress off of his life.

Studies have shown that pastoral ministry is one of the highest-stress jobs that are out there. Many Pastors quit the ministry because of the stress.

Do things that will relieve the stress in his life.

Whether it is finances, demands on time, or the expectation to perform or look the part, do what you can to relieve that stress.

Be somebody holding up his arms as he seeks God’s providence for your church and community.

Yearlong Pastor Appreciation

We have things like Pastor Appreciation month to remind us of something that we might forget otherwise.

God has called all of us to be a blessing to others.

He has called us to give what we have received freely.

How To Bless Your Pastor During Pastor Appreciation Month

This goes both ways.

We all need to remember to be a blessing to those that are a blessing to us. Your Pastor needs that return from you. He needs to know that you love him as much as he loves you.

When this happens, as it does at my church, then the church is a beautiful and healthy place to be a part of.

So I want to encourage you to remember to be a blessing to your Pastor and show your appreciation throughout the year.

Blessings to all of you!
